Skysports.com understands Notts County are poised to sign Blackpool striker Ben Burgess.
Burgess is available on a free transfer after Blackpool opted against taking up the option on his contract for a new deal.
The 28-year-old helped Blackpool secure promotion from the Championship last season, but he does not figure in Ian Holloway's plans for the Premier League.
A number of clubs have been chasing the former Hull City hit-man, but League One new boys Notts County are expected to win the race for his signature.
Magpies boss Craig Short is keen to bolster his attacking options as he prepares for life in League One and he sees Burgess as the perfect foil to Lee Hughes at Meadow Lane.

Would be a really decent signing for Notts County who i expect will be raising the bar slightly with the signings they will bring in this summer...

I think he is a good target man, imagine he could be good backup in most championship squads.

How will your team do this year Spence? Have they still got a few Scottish players or did they leave at the end of the season?
