Neil Lennon has confirmed his interest in Joe Ledley on the day he was named as Celtic's new boss.
The former caretaker manager who carved out a hugely successful playing career at Parkhead, has signed a one-year rolling contract.
Lennon has been quick to identify possible transfer targets and, along with naming his desire to re-sign Robbie Keane, he is also a firm admirer of Cardiff City's Ledley.
The talented Wales international is out of contract this summer and would be available for free, while clubs in England chasing his services would be obliged to pay compensation.
Lennon insists he has already made progress with regards to new signings, but refused to say whether the club were in talks with the 23-year-old.
"He is one that interests us," explained the 38-year-old manager.
"We have made inroads (in terms of bringing new players in) and we will get cracking on that as soon as today (Wednesday) is finished."

Theres a lot of interest in Ledley but really can see him heading to Scotland for a couple of years before heading back to England.

We've offered him a new deal on 11k a week, with bonuses throughout the season whereas Celtic have offered him 25k a week. Only one winner there, but Roma are also interested in him aswell as Stoke. We can only hope he goes to an English club so we get some compensation out of the deal.

Even then the compo won't be a great deal but better than nothing. I an't see him going to Roma, i think its purely out of Stoke and Celtic and i an see him going Stoke purely because his been wanting there for some time so he will defo feel wanted there!

I think he's definately over-rated in the neutrals eyes though. I mean, every time we get a game on Sky/BBC the pundits are always like, 'Oh yes, Joe ledley absolute class' but to us he's just a standard midfielder. I would be disapointed if he left, but at the same time, say we brought in a decent midfield replacement, wouldn't bother me at the slightest. Least Steve McPhail is staying, he's the real creative element.

Jones is a great manager, and if you look at where we have come under him, we have progressed other the last few seasons. He has worked under a low transfer budget and made a load of money from selling our best players. Only problem I have with him is he doesn't know how to use his substitutions, and he has his favourite players who he won't drop, (Etuhu coming on in playoff final) but other than that, can't complain and looking forward to having him as manager next season.
I think Ledley could handle himself at somewhere like Stoke, but don't think he'd particularly set the PL alight. Just an 'average joe' See what I did there?
Yeah, Whittingham is a class act, has that ability to create something out of nothing and always puts a great ball in the box. He can go missing at times in games and can be a frustrating player, but then he has the class to make you forgive him.
Hopefully hold onto him next season, sign a decent goalscoring midfielder and a Roger Johnson type centre half and we'll be right up there again next season.

I thought you had been taken over by a Chinse bloke who has quite a bit of money.....so you should be able to keep your better players now unless they demand a move....or have i missed something?? Roger Johnson has proved himself to be a really good player. It seems when you pay a player of Cardiff they aint half bad......I'm still gutted we lost Ginge Gabbidons still on our treatment table lol!

Yeah, Gabbidon has had a nightmare fair play. Think he's been linked with a return here a few times aswell to occupy our fitness team haha. As for the takeover, your right we've been taken over by wealthy Malaysians who say they want to achieve automatic promotion next season. They have paid off our immediate 6m tax bill that was waving over our heads so we are now secure from a winding up petition. I think they do have the money, and have already stated we are no longer a selling club which is good as we've always sold our best players, but if any ridiculous offers come in they will have to be accepted which is fair enough. The best part is they seem to be a lot more sensible than the Hammam/Ridsdale era which basically risked our club on getting us to the promised land and if we miss out, leaving us in financial turmoil. Whereas these lads want to pay off any outstanding debts first and then run the club sensibly. Unlike two seasons ago when we had both Fowler & Hasselbaink down here on silly wages.

I remember that neither was a success See i think its about time Gabbidon returned to Cardiff we can chuck Dyer in too as a buy 1 get 1 free?? Between them they would keep your fitness team busy all year round, the fans would see about 90 minutes of football between them and your official site could go on and on and say how there be fit for the next gane and how it feels like a new signing So you confident on bring better quialty of players in this summer who an really push you on?? Any rumours / speculation on players that you are after?

ledley all but gone to stoke by the looks of it, at least we'll get the compo. i think he'll do well, he gets a lot of criticism from people saying he's pretty average but i thought he was our best player overall when he came back from his operation.
Still not too disappointed he's gone, too similar to mcphail so interesting to see who we can put in there, we need a darren ambrose type player.
all the rumours are coming to nothing, heard something about andy dorman, decent player
