Arsenal won the FA Youth Cup for the first time in eight years with a 6-2 aggregate victory over Liverpool. The Gunners, leading 4-1 from the first leg, made sure of the trophy with a 2-1 second leg win at Anfield. The Gunners had taken a stranglehold on the tie at the Emirates Stadium last Friday, with goals from Gilles Sunu, Jack Wilshere, Sachez Watt and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas. However Arsenal were not content to sit back and defend their sizeable first-leg lead and Watt, collecting a cross from Emmanuel-Thomas, sprinted past Liverpool defenders Daniel Ayala, Jack Robinson and Joe Kennedy to score in the 25th minute. Liverpool equalised on the night when striker Lauri Dalla Valle scored in the 52nd minute but their momentum petered out in the 70th minute when Watt's shot was turned into his own net by Ayala. www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/may/27/arsenal-liverpool-fa-youth-cupSo both the youth team, and the ladies team won their league and couple doubles..... if only the senior team was as successful....
