Huddersfield have rejected reports linking Kevin Keegan with a coaching role at the club.
Reports emanating on Thursday suggested that the former Newcastle manager could be joining the ambitious League One outfit as part of Lee Clark's coaching staff.
Clark played under the ex-England boss at Newcastle, while Huddersfield's assistant manager Terry McDermott was Keegan's assistant during his two spells at St James' Park.
Terriers chief executive Nigel Clibbens dismissed the speculation, but left the door open for Keegan to link up at the Galpharm Stadium in the future.
"It's flattering to be linked with people in the game of the stature of Kevin," Clibbens told the club's official website.
Open invitation "There is an open invitation to Kevin to come to the club and see for himself the exciting things we are doing, I hope one day he can take up the offer.
"[Keegan's] relationship with Lee and his staff goes back a long way and is very strong.
"I know that our coaching staff are in close contact with him and he is taking an active interest in events here.
However, to link him with us in a formal coaching role or in any other capacity has no substance."
