Whats the Story Morning Glory is only famous for it's singles; Wonderwall, Don't Look Back In Anger, Champagne Super Nova. IMHO Definitely Maybe is a far better album, there are no songs you flick past when you are listening to that album. Morning Glory has you endlessly listening to Wonderwall and ignoring the rest of the songs. None of the albums following up Morning Glory were near the standard of Definitely Maybe, I've heard Noel Gallagher echo those feelings. I wasn't implying that Oasis hadn't been consistently popular, just that their albums after the dizzying heights of Definitely Maybe have consistently fallen short of that standard. I like all of Radioheads albums equally, hence I think they have been consistently better. Obviously this is all about opinions though. P.S. You said earlier Nirvana started the grunge scene and it has since died, I really don't think thats accurate, the grunge scene was there prior to Nirvana and it is still there today, Nirvana merely took it into the mainstream for a few years and a couple of bands followed them, then once Cobain died it faded back where it belonged. Bands like Alice in chains, Soundgarden, stone temple piolets, pearl jam, temple of the dog, were all about around the grunge era. The argument was about the best band ever, now bands that did less than Nirvana would surely not qualify as one of the best bands ever would they? My point was that Nirvana were influential for what they did for the music industry. Going back to your Most recent arguement, "there are no songs you flick past when you are listening to that album. Morning Glory has you endlessly listening to Wonderwall and ignoring the rest of the songs." is that not totally opinionated??? How can you speak for everybody who has listened to that album? I know that i own that album and never have i had to skip back and forward in the album to find wonderwall, As i have enough of an attention span to listen to the whole album. As for Oasis's popularity, they're only as popular as the media makes them, the media builds up a band purely so it can bring them down. But Oasis are just as popular as ever if not more-so popular than ever before. the june gigs that they did showed just that. But that was not what i meant by conisistent, they are consistent in their music too. its has never changed, and theyve never strayed away from their roots. That is consistency is it not.

Blimey, someone has heard of them. I am in a way...I like punk more, I guess. But Streetlight Manifesto and Catch 22 (early stuff) are amongst my favourite bands. Tom Kalnoky is/was in both, aswell as Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution. As for ska, I like some I guess. The Gagjits are alright, as is early Less Than Jake and a few other bands. But Streetlight Manifesto really are the Daddys.

Nah...just rather underground, I guess. I don't think Streetlight Manifesto have ever made a video and they don't get played on the radio over here.

I go to Minnesota quite often and it's amazing how many talented bands and musicians play small out-of-the-way venues in the U.S.
Sometimes they go 10 years or longer and then they emerge

I now feel guilty for thinking no one has heard of them. Just noone has wherever else i go on the internet. Anyway, I really wanted to go see them when they came over here last time but didn't as I didn't think it was on, as they said "TBC" for a long time on their site. Anyway, they're making a new album soon and will be coming back later this year, so hopefully I'll get to go.

What other bands do you like/have seen?

The last band I saw was about a year and a half ago. I'm not sure if I really want to say who. Just think of a few mainstream pop-punk bands who sing about girls too much and you'll probably get them. I'm not really into those bands anymore. I like more agreessive punk now.

haha lol, not to worry, I have seen all the mainstream bands anyway ;D that Includes Blink 182, Greenday (who I like ;D) Sum 41 *cringe* all of them, but Im more into punk, and emo, saw Funeral For A Friend a few weeks ago, but I doubt thats the sort of thing you like best band I have ever seen is Less than Jake ;D seen them 3 times.

Ah, I've seen blink-182. I saw them at Wembley in 2004. I was really disappointed that the only song they played off "Dude Ranch" was "Dammit". I always liked that album the most. I saw Sum 41 the previous year. I actually thought they were good for a live act. I saw two other bands that are slightly more poppier than them two but they shall remain nameless. Not Busted though... As for emo...I don't really like it. I may have done a bit a while ago, but I guess it's not really my thing now. Quite like the ol' Less Than Jake though. Trouble is, I'd like to go to a lot of gigs, just no one round here lieks the same thing. They're more into emo. Bands I'd like to see or missed are/were: Rancid, Dropkick Murphys, Streetlight Manifesto, NOFX, Bad Religion. That sort of thing... Although as I've never been to those sort of bands' gigs before, I thought they could be full of weirdos.

I suppose Simple Plan are more famous in America. I liked both before they acheived any sort of fame over here. Not that I want a medal, but I do think Good Charlotte's first album was good, but I don't listen to it anymore. I don't mean the one that had "Lifestyles.." and "Girls and Boys" on it, as that was the second...their first album was a lot better. As for Simple Plan. The less said the better. I like AFI. I have two of their albums and like some other of their songs. Pennywise...I think I like a few of their songs. Haven't listened to them for ages actually.

Yeah, I used to be into really poppy-punk music. I have lots of CDs of bands I've mentioned aswell as the Drive-Thru bands (Starting Line, Home Grown etc.) although I've sold quite a few of them now. I rarely listen to them really. Maybe blink or Fenix TX every now and then. Big fan of Green Day though. I always class them a bit above blink and the rest. I think they're a bit more aggressive. Or it could just be that the singer's balls have dropped and he doesn't sound like a girl. Although their newer stuff is a bit... Although I do like some of the songs. I like "Insomniac" and "Dookie" most. I saw Good Charlotte twice. I thought they were good, but then again, they were the first band I saw live. I didn't really have much to compare them to. I thought Simple Plan were great live. Although in a way I thought they were crap live. What I mean by that is...well, their lyrics aren't exactly great and aren't really my thing anymore, but they did actually sound a lot like they do on CD and were pretty faultless. I think there are some decent songs on the second Good Charlotte album. Although, it's not really my thing anymore. But the songs are at least listenable. Well, some are anyway. Anyway, other bands I like that I didn't mention: Operation Ivy, Oasis, The Smiths, Anti-Flag and one or two others. I know this isn't the place to do this, but I just wanted to say sorry if I caused any problems. The person, "Darren", would've spammed this site whether I came here or not, so I hope I can't be blamed for that. He only used the name Darren, because he mentioned the site to me on MSN and well, I guess he thought it'd be funny to use my name. I didn't mean to cause any problems in the thread. Sorry for the erm abuse I gave him in the first post that got edited. . I was just having a laugh to begin with. I was talking a bit weirdly aswell. Steve Redgrave isn't really my hero, but I do like him and am diabetic. Anyway, I hope my presence doesn't cause too much hostility. I was just having a laugh at first like I said, but now I've decided to stay. And like I said, I'm not actually part of the admin on the other site. "Darren" however, is kind of. He's not admin, but he helps out in a certain way. I don't want to give too much away about him. He is a mate afterall, he was probably just annoyed that "his" site was spammed. They don't like people promoting stuff there. I'm just a regular member there by the way. Nothing too special. Anyway, once again - sorry.

Ahh yeah same here, I have like all the warped tour, Atticus, and Drive Thru albums but don't listen to them any more, as I'm not so much into pop punk anymore, as I was when I was a kid as for Green Day, they are the first proper band I saw live, and have always been my fav band, just ahead of Blink when I was young, though I agree, not to keen on the new Green Day album, I don't dislike it, its just no where near as good as Dookie and Insomniac, I have like 6 of their albums and they are my favs too ;D you know when to avoid your fav bands new material when all your cousins under 12 and your mother own the album Op Ivy are another of my fav bands, very similar to Rancid & The Transplants (for obvious reasons) and Anti-Flag I have seen twice, I like them ;D I like bands like A7X & Bullet for my valentine too (saw them a few weeks ago) But not to worry about what happened, he had his reasons for that, nothing that we cant deal with we know your not to blame
